*Charlie is the second interschool eventing Schoolmaster that we have listed for these fabulous clients - the first horse sold within 36 hours sight unseen, in May 2024, and is adored by his new owner!*
Introduction: Charlie is a fabulous schoolmaster, confidence builder eventer, He has been produced by his current teenage rider/ owner, under professional guidance, since he was a green broken youngster. Charlie has the talent and youth to progress up the star levels and also the experience to teach a young rider or amateur. He was never going to be sold but with his owner’s university commitments looming, he is very reluctantly on the market to an approved home.
Education, skills and experience:
Charlie’s owner has brought him on, slowly and correctly. He is currently competing and placing in 1* eventing, 105/ 100 showjumping and Official elementary dressage.
Dressage
Charlie is well established in dressage with three even paces. He consistently produces calm and accurate tests. Charlie has a comprehensive dressage education, he willingly collects, is balanced, light and soft to ride.
In eventing dressage, Charlie is always a stand out, consistently scoring over 70% and up to 80.8%. In official dressage, Charlie has placed in every dressage event that he has competed at. It has been suggested that he has the talent to progress to Advanced level or beyond!
Showjumping
Charlie is responsive and adjustable, competitive against the clock. He is brave and trustworthy around the course and doesn’t stop. Charlie has successfully competed and placed up to 105/ 110cm and is training 115.
Cross Country
In cross country, Charlie is super calm in the start box and bold and honest across the course. The only time he ever had a country jumping fault was at his first 1* event. He is ready to go 2* with the right rider and he is training, at this height, with ease. Charlie absolutely loves jumping, and is a ‘point and shoot’ cross country horse. He is very clever and quick with his feet, will jump nearly anything off any angle and any stride. Despite gale force wind and rain, Charlie can always be trusted to bring his rider home safely.
General demeanor under saddle:
Charlie is a wonderful example of the modern performance horse being compact, athletic and refined. His paces display elasticity and activity suitable to progress up the levels.
Charlie is a willing and responsive gelding who is honest and aims to please. He is generally quiet but not completely unflappable to ride. Charlie can occasionally have a look at something but he doesn’t spook.
Charlie is easy and trustworthy to ride in all situations, compete, take off the property, and he works well in a group or on his own. He doesn’t require lunging or an extensive warm up; he is safe and exactly the same to ride, even after a break. Charlie is ridden on the flat in a snaffle snaffle and jumped in a universal - only due to his love and enthusiasm for jumping!
Charlie is good with dogs, motorbikes and loves the beach. He is relaxed - will have a flat out snooze regardless of the environment or atmosphere - and makes friends wherever he goes, making him a great horse to camp with at competitions.
Current workload/ fitness: Charlie is in work 4 to 5 days a week and is competing.
Handling and general behaviour: Charlie LOVES people and sleeping! He is safe and easy to manage - easy to catch and handle - lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe, clip, float/ truck etc.
Feeding and management: Charlie loves his food and is a good doer. He is fed 4cyte as a preventative - as most performance horses are.
Medical history: Charlie has small scars which do not impact him cosmetically and do not affect his performance. He passed a general health check including flexion tests in 2023.
Rider Suitability: Capable and confident - Charlie will be perfect for a capable teen or young adult looking for a kind, competitive and talented partner. He has the rare ability to teach his rider and to also go up the grades in any discipline.
Reason for sale: Charlie is an absolute delight! He has been owned by his current rider since he was green broken and is adored by his family. Unfortunately, his owner/ rider is heading to university this year and Charlie has far too talented to become a paddock ornament.
