Introduction: Trudy is your next ‘dream’ performance horse. She is a lovely German Riding Pony standing 14.2hh and, at 6 years old, is any unspoilt young horse who is ready to form a very special and successful partnership with her new rider.
Education, skills and experience: Trudy competed primarily in dressage and showing - where she has countless wins and placings. She has three lovely elastic paces and an outstanding trot with wonderful cadence.
Trudy could easily make a FEI dressage horse, rising up the levels quickly if this is what was desired. She consistently scoring well, with little effort required , leaving her at the top of the scoreboard in very big classes.
Trudy recently won two novice tests and achieved Reserve Champion Novice Pony and Runner Up High Point Pony at the Tasmanian Official Dressage Series. Trudy previously won her 5yo Young Horse class at the Tasmania State Championships.
Trudy is also very successful in the show ring, she competed and placed at the EA HOTY and was runner up AOR and Rising Star.
Trudy has also dabbled in show jumping, up to 45cm due to age, showing herself to be both brave and careful. She also loves her trail rides and is sensible on her own or in company.
General demeanor under saddle: Trudy is willing and responsive under saddle. She has a snaffle mouth and naturally/ easily collects.
Trudy is very reliable to take out and is the same at home as she is at competitions. She is not at all horse shy and is very easy to ride in large groups of horses.
Trudy is generally very calm and reliable but not completely unflappable, she can sometimes look at things but doesn’t spook. She has never pigrooted, bucked, bolted or reared. Trudy is not reactive.
Trudy gives her rider confidence - she never has taken advantage of a rider's ability. She is tolerant of rider mistakes and is consistent in her work. Trudy can be shown, competed in dressage and showjumping, ridden bareback and ridden on trails without issues by a confident novice rider.
Current workload/ fitness: Trudy is currently in work 3 times a week and is currently competing. She can be left for a spell with no problems and no lunging required.
Handling: Trudy is very well mannered on the ground - safe to handle - to catch, shoe, clip, wash, saddle. She is a favourite with the farrier.
Behaviour: Trudy is a sweet mare with an exceptional temperament. She is never cheeky and never pushes the boundaries. Trudy is very gentle and kind.
Trudy is very easy to take away for competitions, she eats all her hay, drinks well and does not stress. She is an exceptional traveler - easy to load/ travel and unload.
Feeding and management: Trudy is on hay when needed. She is a good doer.
Medical history: Trudy doesn’t have any medical issues and her owner welcomes any vet check.
Rider Suitability: Trudy is suitable for a novice rider (in a knowledgeable home). She would also be perfect as a confidence builder for a small adult returning to riding.
A novice rider being defined as someone who has been riding regularly (multiple times a week) for at least a year, has independent hands and balanced position/ seat; can walk, trot and canter. Needs an impeccably well behaved, established schoolmaster type without quirks to be confident.
Reason for sale: Trudy is reluctantly for sale because her owner is selling the farm and buying a yacht to go sailing!
