Introduction: Trusty is a fabulous schoolmaster, confidence builder eventer, He has been produced by his current  rider/ owner, under professional guidance, since coming off the track. Trusty has the experience to teach a young rider or amateur. He was never going to be sold but with his owner’s ‘grown up’ commitments preventing her from competing, he is very reluctantly on the market to an approved home.

Education, skills and experience: 

Trusty’s owner has brought him on, slowly and correctly. He is currently competing and placing in EVA95 eventing, 110 showjumping and Official novice dressage. 

Dressage

Trusty is well established in dressage with three even paces. He consistently produces calm and accurate tests. Trusty has a comprehensive dressage education, he willingly collects, is balanced, light and soft to ride. 

Showjumping

Trusty is responsive and adjustable, his rider isn’t a speed demon but he has potential to be competitive against the clock. He is brave and trustworthy around the course and doesn’t stop. Trusty has successfully competed and placed up to 105/ 110cm and is training 115.

Cross Country

In cross country, Trusty is super calm in the start box and bold and honest across the course. He absolutely loves jumping, and is a ‘point and shoot’ cross country horse. He is very clever and quick with his feet, will jump nearly anything off any angle and any stride. Despite gale force wind and rain, Trusty can always be trusted to bring his rider home safely. 

General demeanor under saddle: 

Trusty is a wonderful example of the modern thoroughbred performance horse being compact, athletic and refined. His paces display elasticity and activity suitable to progress up the levels.

Trusty is a willing and responsive gelding who is honest and aims to please. He is generally quiet but not completely unflappable to ride. Trusty can occasionally have a look at something but he doesn’t spook. Trusty doesn’t require lunging or an extensive warm up; he is safe and exactly the same to ride, even after a break. Trusty is ridden in all phases, in a double jointed snaffle.

Trusty is easy and trustworthy to ride in all situations, compete, take off the property, and he works well in a group or on his own. He has been exposed to life on the farm and  not much phases him, he has been fine with sheep, goats, cows, mini ponies, quad bikes, motorbikes, golf carts and dogs. 

Current workload/ fitness: Trusty is in work 4 to 5 days a week and is competing.

Handling and general behaviour: Trusty LOVES people! He is safe and easy to manage - easy to catch and handle - lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe, clip, float/ truck etc. Trusty is currently barefoot as he doesn’t need shoes. He is easily kept in a  herd, enjoys being in the paddock full time but is also happy to be stabled. 

Feeding and management: Trusty loves his food and is hard fed Easisport and hay as needed. He isn’t affected by food.

Medical history: Trusty is sound and doesn’t have any medical issues. Vet checks are welcome at the potential buyers expense.

Rider Suitability: Intermediate Rider defined as someone who  has been riding / competing regularly for at  least three years, has independent hands and  balanced position/ seat; can walk, trot and  canter on their own horse. Rider is confident if  the horse is reasonably well behaved. Prefers a  schoolmaster type without any major quirks.

Reason for sale: Trusty’s rider is currently not in position to maintain competition horse and require funds for renovations. We are looking for a home with a young rider looking to proceed up the levels  or an amateur adult rider wanting to compete.
