3rd & 4th Prelim dressage SEG Dressage Day
Introduction: Whiskey is a fabulous quarter horse cross all rounder for a capable and confident rider. He is smart of his feet, willing to work, alert and intelligent. Whiskey really has ‘been there and done that’ with his previous owner focusing on Natural Horsemanship and his current owner on jumping and dressage.
Education, skills and experience: Whiskey has done dressage, showjumping, eventing, and trail riding. He has had miles being ridden bareback, in just a halter! Whiskey is now confidently training 80cm and competing 65 with zero refusals. He has a solid preliminary dressage education, with laterals established.
Whiskey is not worried by busy roads, farm life - tractors, trucks, motorbikes, livestock or dogs. He is happy to be worked on his own or with others.
General demeanor under saddle: Whiskey is forward, willing and responsive under saddle. He has a soft, snaffle mouth. Whiskey can be described as a ‘reliable and fun pony clubber’.
When Whiskey is fit, fresh and underworked, he can be a little looky (he just stops or moves slowly away from something) or do a single kick out when going into the canter (this is not even a pigroot).
He does not kick, bolt, rear, buck or bite.
Whiskey can be left in the paddock for a month, called to the gate and then saddled and ridden safely.
Current workload/ fitness: Whiskey is currently in light work.
Handling: Whiskey comes to the paddock gate, when called, ready to be caught and get to work. He is safe and easy to handle - to trim and shoe - wash, saddle, clip and load/ travel/ unload.
Behaviour: Whiskey is a very kind and affectionate pony. He thrives in a one to one partnership with the rider and will do anything for ‘his’ person. Whiskey enjoys people and is an absolute pleasure to have around.
Feeding and management: Whiskey is very low maintenance and simply lives on grass.
Medical history: Whiskey does not have any medical issues.
Rider Suitability: Whiskey has been used as a lesson horse for an intermediate teenager. He would be suitable for a capable and confident teen or adult rider who is looking for an allrounder type.
Whiskey would not suit beginners, nervous or unbalanced riders as he can be forward. He needs a rider with a balanced seat and and understanding of the aides.
Reason for sale: Whiskey is very reluctantly for sale because his owner has moved and needs funds for renovations.
