Introduction: Deviate is a purebred Quarter Horse by the famous sire Acres Destiny out of One Moore Diva. He is a Quarter Horse through and through - willing, gentle, powerful, loyal and intelligent.
Deviate is full brother to ‘Western Acres’ - who won the Classic Challenge at Tamworth Nutrien Sale in February - and his half sister (out of One Moore Diva) made $140,000 at the same sale!
Deviate has had an amazing life so far. He has been the ultimate competitor for his owner and confidence builder for various riders. Deviate has many more years left to teach and inspire another rider.
Education, skills and experience: Deviate is a ‘ribbon machine’ winning or placing wherever he goes and adaptable to every situation and rider. He is that incredibly rare horse that steps up or down for his rider - competitive and fast with one rider to campdraft - but then is quiet and calm for novices, riders as young as 7 (see video) or nervous nellies.
Deviate’s owners are most proud of his placings at Western Riding Club events and his attendance at Para Dressage Clinics with a rider with an acquired brain injury and a left side deficit. Deviate took the most wonderful care of her, which is a testament to his temperament and education.
Deviate is willing and responsive under saddle. He automatically goes onto the correct canter lead and has mastered flying changes. Deviate is soft to ride, light in the bridle and is responsive to cues.
Deviate turns back with ease and skillfully tracks a cow. He has been ridden by junior and novice riders, including at competitions.
Deviate excels at campdraft, cutting, cow horse, ranch or trail. He has been ridden bareback, with others and on his own, and loves trail riding mustering.
General demeanor under saddle: Deviate is super safe to ride out, down roads and across open paddocks. He is reliable, tolerant, respectful and fun to ride.
Deviate can be ridden and competed anywhere without issues. He is used to agricultural shows, busy environments and is unphased by farm life, animals, pets, trucks, tractors, fireworks or the nonsense of young children.
Current workload/ fitness: Deviate is currently in work and competing.
Handling: Deviate is safe and easy to handle in all ways - to catch, shoe, wash, saddle and load, travel and unload in a float or truck.
Behaviour: Deviate is affectionate and is an absolute pleasure to have around. He does not have any quirks or vices under saddle. Deviate does not need to be ridden regularly and is safe after a spell.
Feeding and management: Deviate lives in a grassy paddock and is a good doer. His behaviour is not affected by feed.
Medical history: Deviate does not have any medical issues.
Rider Suitability: Deviate is suitable for any rider - beginner to advanced - everyone would enjoy him and learn something from him. Deviate is a gorgeous, stress free mount who will give you many years of love and enjoyment.
Reason for sale: Deviate is very reluctantly for sale because his rider is focusing on younger Futurity prospects and know that he has so much to offer another rider.
