Introduction: Roscoe is the ultimate 4* eventer - athletic and brave cross country, scopey in the show jumping and talented in the dressage arena. He has been produced carefully and consistently throughout his career. Roscoe is now ready to show a less experienced rider around the star levels.
Education, skills and experience:
Dressage: Roscoe is well established in dressage with three even paces. He consistently produces accurate tests. Roscoe has a comprehensive dressage education, he willingly collects, is balanced, light and soft to ride. He is training Medium level dressage including changes.
Showjumping: Roscoe is responsive and adjustable, competitive against the clock. He is brave and trustworthy around the course and doesn’t stop. Horses that are this brave are great in that they don’t stop and they give their rider an immense amount of confidence knowing that they will get you through the finish flags.
Cross Country
In cross country, Roscoe is bold and honest across the course. He absolutely loves jumping, and is generally a ‘point and shoot’ cross country horse, as long as he is ridden straight and his rider doesn’t jump extra jumps or miss any (see results!) From his last 21 events, he went CLEAR cross country 17 times!

General demeanor under saddle:
Roscoe is athletic and forward to ride. He loves his job and is a willing and responsive gelding, who is honest and aims to please. Roscoe is generally quiet but not completely unflappable to ride. Roscoe can occasionally have a look at something but he doesn’t spook.
Roscoe is easy and trustworthy to ride in all situations, compete, take off the property, and he works well in a group or on his own. He doesn’t require lunging or an extensive warm up; he is safe and exactly the same to ride, even after a break. Roscoe is ridden on the flat in a snaffle snaffle and jumped in a kimblewick - only due to his love and enthusiasm for jumping - this bit keeps him beautifully light in the hand!
Roscoe is a thoroughbred and he can get a little tense in the dressage. This is, however, easily managed. Roscoe is given a warm up an hour before his dressage test and then just a light relaxed ten minute ride before his test.
Roscoe is perfectly safe and without vices - not buck, bolt, rear etc.
Current workload/ fitness: Roscoe is in work 4 to 5 days a week and is competing.
Handling and general behaviour: Roscoe is safe and easy to manage - easy to catch and handle - lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe, clip, float/ truck etc.
Feeding and management: Roscoe loves his food and is a good doer. He is fed 4cyte as a preventative - as most performance horses are. Roscoe is currently fed KER Stud Balancer, Speedibeet and Barastoc Supreme.
Medical history: Roscoe does not have any issues or injuries that affect his performance. Like most high level horses, he has had a few past issues. These were successfully rehabbed and Roscoe has returned to competition, better than ever. He is a 13 year old performance horse, so this is likely to be reflected in a pre-purchase exam and he is priced accordingly.
Rider Suitability: Capable and confident - Roscoe will be perfect for a capable and confident intermediate teen or adult looking for a safe, competitive and talented partner to ride at the FEI levels.
Reason for sale: His owner is overcommitted with younger horses needing to be worked and competed.
