Introduction: Ludi is a fabulous schoolmaster, confidence builder showjumper. He was been produced correctly by a professional and has since then taught two junior riders. Ludi has the correct training and experience to teach another young rider or amateur. He was never going to be sold but with his owner’s university commitments taking precedence, he is very reluctantly on the market to an approved home.
Education, skills and experience:
Ludi’s owner has owned him for approximately 2.5 years and competes him at 110-120 level showjumping. She was jumping 90-100 when he was purchased and he has been perfect in the role of schoolmaster. Ludi is lovely and willing on the flat and would be a competitive Novice dressage horse as well.
Dressage: Ludi is well established on the flat with three even paces. He willingly collects, is balanced, light and soft to ride.
Showjumping: Ludi is responsive and adjustable. He is brave and trustworthy around the course. This bravery is the ultimate schoolmaster's confidence-giving trait. Ludi may rub the odd rail but he will not stop unless given a very unsafe distance, over and over again. In fact, Ludi hasn’t stopped in the last 12 months and he has been in consistent work and competing! This is a much better scenario for a rider, with a less than perfect ‘eye’, than a careful and cautious horse that will stop if ‘missed’. Ludi is currently competing successfully and placing to 120cm.
General demeanor under saddle: Ludi is a wonderful example of the modern performance horse being compact, athletic and refined. His paces display elasticity and activity suitable to progress up the levels.
Ludi is a willing and responsive gelding who is honest and aims to please. He is generally quiet but not completely unflappable to ride. Ludi can occasionally have a look at something but he doesn’t spook.
Ludi is easy and trustworthy to ride in all situations, compete, take off the property, and he works well in a group or on his own. He doesn’t require lunging or an extensive warm up; he is safe and exactly the same to ride, even after a break. Ludi is ridden, in all disciplines, in a soft Trust full cheek snaffle.
Ludi is good with dogs, motorbikes and loves the beach. He is relaxed - will have a flat out snooze regardless of the environment or atmosphere - and makes friends wherever he goes, making him a great horse to camp with at competitions.
Current workload/ fitness: Ludi is in work 3 days a week and is competing.
Handling and general behaviour: Ludi LOVES people! He is safe and easy to manage - easy to catch and handle - lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe, clip, float/ truck etc.
Feeding and management: Ludi loves his food and is a good doer. He is fed 4cyte as a preventative - as most performance horses are.
Medical history: Ludi was vet checked when purchased and does not have any medical issues.
Rider Suitability: Capable and confident - Ludi will be perfect for a capable teen or young adult looking for a kind, competitive and talented partner.
Reason for sale: Ludi is loved and adored by his owner. Unfortunately, university commitments are taking precedence and Ludi has far too talented to become a paddock ornament.
