Introduction: Jimmy is a truly lovely young horse. He is bred to excel in dressage or showing with the bloodlines, conformation and talent to make it at the top level.
Jimmy presents an amazing opportunity to take on such a beautiful straight forward youngster, who will have enough talent for a professional rider but the temperament to excel with a capable junior or amateur rider.
Bloodlines: Jimmy breeding is beyond ‘impressive’! He is by Donier who’s by the famous De Niro (by Donnerhall), out of a Totilas mare, who in turn is out of a Londonderry mare.
Donier proves to be a high-quality sire. He has produced youngsters with beautiful conformation and huge paces. He completed his stallion performance test in Schlieckau in the top group, with the expected high scores for basic paces, willingness to perform and overall impression (9.0 each).
De Niro: Perhaps the most successful, Donnerhall, son is De Niro. In 1997, De Niro was vice champion of the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf with a score of 141.93 points and champion of rideability with a score of 145.41 points. From the tender age of 7 when he commenced his Grand Prix career, he was a champion. More than 100 licensed stallions originate from De Niro. His offspring are sought after everywhere and they are always successful.
Jimmy’s dam is the imported mare Pr.St. Weltlicht who’s by Weltmeyer out of a Donnerhall mare - two of the most influential dressage line to date. Lettie was assessed by the Hanoverian Society in Germany where she achieved the highest status of State Premium mare.
Weltmeyer: The legend. As the AHS put it, "Weltmeyer continues to almost single-handedly reshape the Hanoverian breed." When it comes to capacity for dressage and the temperament necessary for a top competitor, this stallion simply cannot be beaten. In 2005, Weltmeyer received a Breeding Value Index of 152 points, with an assurance of 99% heritability, from the German Equestrian Federation.
Donnerhall: His talent was apparent right from the start, and he scored 131.92 to be second in his performance test at Adelheidsdorf in 1984. Donnerhall’s competition career is the stuff of legend. He won many Grand Prix, Grand Prix Specials and Freestyles. In 1994, Donnerhall was individual bronze medallist (and team gold medallist) at the 1994 World Championships at The Hague. He went on to win the European World Cup Freestyle League final standings twice, in 1997 and 1998. He retired from competition in 1998. What Donnerhall seems to give to his offspring, is a trainability and a strength to handle the more collected work.
Movement and temperament: In the article ‘Foal to FEI’ Maryanna Haymon, who has been breeding warmbloods for 27 years, says that dressage standouts can be spotted at the foal stage. She says that foals with an aptitude for dressage will perform such movements as piaffe half-steps, passage, flying changes, and canter pirouettes as they frolic in the field: “These things are natural to top-level horses when they are babies.”
Haymon also looks for evidence of innate bravery, curiosity, and a desire to interact with humans, all of which, she believes, stoke the work ethic needed for high-level dressage achievement. She likes to see a foal that’s willing to leave its dam’s side to come over, sniff and greet people.
Jimmy encompasses these future FEI attributes. He has lovely floating movement and his frolicking shows glimpses of those FEI movements. Jimmy’s personality is super friendly, in your face, he just wants to be with you! Nothing much bothers him and he enjoys new experiences which indicates that he will take further education ‘in his stride’.
Jimmy is playful with the other two foals but he is also happy to spend time by himself. His mum is the lowest ranked mare in the herd of three, so she stands back and happily waits for her turn. Jimmy has inherited this easy going nature whilst at the same time being an equal to the other two foals, definitely not the underdog.
Conformation: Jimmy is a modern, compact and athletic warmblood, just like his parents. Jimmy’s conformation will enable him to take to ‘life under saddle’ with willingness and acceptance.
Behaviour and handling: Jimmy is very easy to catch and has had basic handling and halter training. He has had his feet trimmed by the farrier and been floated with his mother.
Feeding and management: Jimmy does not require any specific feeding or management. He has not been weaned and lives off grass but eats mum’s hay and hard feed - Prydes Bio Mare, chaff, boiled barley.
Medical history: Jimmy does not have any medical issues.
Rider Suitability: Jimmy requires a competent and capable rider due to his age and potential
Reason for sale: Jimmy is for sale as part of his owner’s breeding program.
With Jimmy’s intelligence, talent, and willingness to please, he is perfect for someone looking to bring on a lovely, uncomplicated young horse for the future.
